Choose your response language
Select the language you want the AI to respond in. This is independent of the document language — you can upload a French contract and ask questions in English, receiving answers in Spanish.

Type any question about the document and press Enter, or click one of the quick action buttons: Summarize the entire document, extract all Key Points, or have the AI explain Tables and Data found in the document.
Continue the conversation
Ask follow-up questions — the AI maintains context throughout the conversation. When you want to start fresh (e.g., to switch topics), click "New conversation" to clear the history while keeping your documents loaded.

How does AI PDF Chat work?
PDFlexa extracts the text from your uploaded PDF(s) directly in your browser using pdf.js. The extracted text is then sent to Anthropic's Claude AI, which reads the document content and answers your questions accurately. The AI is instructed to only use information from your document — not general knowledge — so you get answers grounded in the actual content.
Can I upload multiple PDF files at once?
Yes. You can upload multiple PDFs simultaneously. The AI reads all of them and can answer questions that span across multiple documents — useful for comparing contracts, research papers, or related reports.
Are my PDF files stored or shared?
No. PDF text is extracted in your browser and sent only to the AI API for processing. Files themselves are never uploaded to PDFlexa's servers. The AI API processes your query and immediately discards it — there is no persistent storage.
What questions can I ask about my PDF?
You can ask anything about the document content: "What is the main argument?", "List all dates mentioned", "Summarise section 3", "What does the table on page 5 show?", "Who are the authors?", "What are the key recommendations?". The AI can also generate summaries, extract key points, and explain tables and data.
Does the AI work with scanned PDFs?
AI PDF Chat requires PDFs with selectable/searchable text. If your PDF is a scanned image (text is not selectable), you need to run OCR first using our AI OCR tool to make the text machine-readable, then use AI Chat.
In which languages can I receive answers?
The AI can respond in over 30 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, and more. Select your preferred language from the language selector before starting the chat.
How many questions can I ask per day?
Free users can ask up to 20 questions per day. Premium subscribers get 200 questions per day with priority processing. The daily limit resets every 24 hours.
Can the AI explain charts and images in my PDF?
The AI works with the text content of your PDF. If your PDF contains charts, graphs, or images with text captions or surrounding explanations, the AI can explain those based on the text. Pure image content without accompanying text cannot be read. For best results with data-heavy documents, ensure charts have text labels and captions.
Is AI PDF Chat free?
Yes, AI PDF Chat is free for up to 20 questions per day. No account is required to start chatting. Premium subscribers get 200 daily questions, faster responses, and access to all other premium PDF tools.
